Program Description

The Business administration diploma will help students develop a successful career by establishing solid skills and knowledge in various business administration functions throughout the program. Students will learn foundations of business functions such as management, accounting, marketing, communication & organizational behavior. Furthermore, students will take advanced courses that would give them sold background on specializations such as finance, investment, strategic management, international business & economics.

Program Objective

The program is designed to prepare students to take management & administrative positions in various industries. That would include managers in retail stores, financial specialists, marketing coordinators, supervisors, market analysts and much more.

Admission Requirements

– Secondary school grade 12 or equivalent or higher.

– Students must be able to demonstrate an advanced level of English by one of the following assessments:

    *Passing the Create career college oral & written English assessment 

    *TOFEL IBT Score minimum – 80

    *IELTS score 6.0

Graduation Requirements

– Students must pass all courses in the program with a minimum of 60% overall grade.

– Students must finish their co-op portion of the program.

Course Breakdown

Managerial communication is a course designed to help students understand how effective communication is essential for a company’s success. Students will learn various types of communication channels and skills. The course focuses on written, verbal & nonverbal communication. The course leads students into assessing their audience, understand body language and communicate interculturally. Students will enhance their writing skills through writing business reports and various types of messages.

Introduction to management is one of the core courses of the business administration program. The course is an overall view of the management function in an organization. The course is designed that students would understand the theoretical and practical concepts of management. Students will get an overall understanding of planning, organizing, leading & controlling.

Human Resources is one of the most important functions in a business. Effective recruitment, training & performance management makes the difference between successful and non-successful organizations. This course will give students the practical and effective methods for recruitment, training & measuring performance. Students will learn how different organizations use different types of recruitment and performance management methods. Students will also learn about employee retention strategies.

This course is an introduction to Canadian business law. The course focuses on making students understand how to write contracts and what makes a contract valid. The course is also designed to help students understand legal consequences that a business can face in Canada and understand the risks taken by certain actions of businesses. The course will also elaborate on different methods of establishing a business. Students will also learn the legal issues related to employment.

Organizational behavior Is one of the foundations of this program. In this course, students will learn how to deal with individuals on a personal and organizational level. Students will identify their leadership style & self-improvement techniques. The course is structured to help students understand how personalities affect organizations and how organizational cultures are shaped. Students will learn about leadership styles and will be able to critically think on leadership differences.

The marketing course is considered one of the most important functions of business. In this course, students will learn how to build a long-term profitable relationship with consumers. Students will view various approaches in marketing such as service dominant logic. Students will be expected to complete a full market research regarding a potential product or service, select a pricing strategy, choose the best communication & delivery method.

Accounting function is essential for any business to measure, document and report an organization performance. In this course students will learn hands on how to perform all aspects of an accounting cycle, journalize transactions, create a trial balance, close accounts and create financial statements. This course is a prerequisite for the finance course.

Finance for managers is a course that is designed to help students make decisions based on financial statements. Students will use tools taught to maximize shareholder value within the ethical realm of business. Students will know how to use various financial ratios, assess organizational risks & evaluate various opportunities. Students will learn different important financial concepts such as financial markets, time value & money & valuation of financial securities.

Strategic management is one of the advanced courses offered in the business program. The course helps students build long term orientated vision and set up plans accordingly. The course will give students various environmental assessment tools and various plan implementation strategies. Students will analyze various cases, research and present concepts learned in class.

Managerial economics is a course designed to shape students thinking by being inclusive to various internal and external economic factors of businesses. The course will focus on concepts such as supply and demand, production costs and market structures. Students will investigate theories and the practicality of these theories in the business world. Students will know how to calculate startups and operational costs and profit margins.

Investment & stock management course sheds light on various investment strategies in the business world. The course focuses on data driven decision making on monetary valuation. Students will analyze various stock markets and evaluate investing opportunities. Students will learn how to manage an investment portfolio and compare between fixed income securities.

International Business Management is a course designed to introduce students to international markets. The course reflects upon various theories regarding international trade, methods for assessing the global environment, economics & political systems. Students will compare various global market entry methods and types of foreign direct investments. Students will also receive tools to compare and measure different aspects of culture.

Work placement skills is designed to help international students understand the processes of how to get a job in Canada. The course covers various topics such as resume building, cover letters, interviews, work ethics, discipline & career path building.
